About Theatre Peckham
Theatre Peckham is an inspirational Theatre Company that offers high quality arts education and training to children and young people residing in and around the borough of Southwark.

Established over 24 years ago the Theatre school and workshop programme has an excellent reputation which is reflected in the high number of distinctions received by students studying towards the Trinity Guildhall grade qualifications.
Theatre Peckham also produces several productions each year that use a unique mix of professional actors and young people enrolled in the workshop programme. This highly individual model provides a fun and structured means to progress from participation to professional performances.
Theatre Peckham:
- Creates high quality, accessible, relevant and exciting theatre, which reflects and promotes the diversity of the local area and in so doing challenges perceptions of Peckham and its young people.
- Encourages, supports and nurtures children and young people to discover the magic of theatre and to develop their potential as young audiences, artists and theatre professionals of tomorrow.
The Artistic Director Teresa Early collaborates with a wide range of creative professionals and young burgeoning artists to create highly engaging shows suitable for families, young people and school groups.
Our Education Projects Manager and Outreach and Drama Facilitator develop relationships with nurseries, schools, community groups and further education providers to create tailored educational projects that includes themed workshops and after-school drama clubs. Examples of previous projects include: speaking and listening workshops, projects on myths and legends, taster workshops in Musical Theatre, Tap, Ballet and Acting. Theatre Peckham is presently developing a new range of workshops for schools and community groups. If you’d like to find out more about what we can offer contact the office: 020 7708 5401.

Youth Forum
Mistaken Identity is a new production company for 16-19 year olds which has emerged from our Youth Forum - an arena for our young artists and arts leaders of tomorrow to make creative decisions about their place in Theatre Peckham’s future. Mistaken Identity is currently in rehearsal for their first public performances of a show created and devised by them. If you are interested in joining our new Youth Forum for 2009/10, please contact us.
Theatre Peckham Apprentices
Theatre Peckham’s Apprentice Actor scheme aims at bridging the gap between child or student performances and first professional work. The young actors, who must be 16+, mainly but not exclusively drawn from our own students, perform alongside the professional cast and are paid an expenses allowance. Places are competitive and the best performer gets the job! We are also offering a full time Community Arts Apprentice post for 2009-10, shared with STEP Festival. We hope to add Technical Training apprenticeships later during the coming year.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss any aspects of Theatre Peckham’s projects, please contact us on 020 7708 5401 or email admin (at) theatrepeckham.co.uk . We always need volunteers to help with productions so please get in touch!
