Sir Ian McKellen visit to Theatre Peckham

LORD OF THE RINGS star Sir Ian McKellen dropped into Theatre Peckham classes on Monday 29th March to see the work we do with young people for himself. Sir Ian is a Patron of Theatre Peckham and a great supporter. His visit, which lasted well over 2 hours, took him into classes for 5 to 18 year olds ranging from Street Dance to Shakespeare to our BTEC group performing their new play THE OTHER SIDE OF ALICE.

Sir Ian is one of the most famous actors in the world, with an illustrious career spanning 40 years. He was introduced to a new generation of fans when he took the role of Gandalf in the record-breaking LORD OF THE RINGS series of blockbuster films. When asked by Theatre Peckham students about his favourite character, Sir Ian said Macbeth was an amazingly complex man 'but it's really Gandalf.'
