Theatre Peckham – A Learning Theatre
All our work encourages, supports and nurtures children and young people to discover the magic of theatre, and to develop their potential as young audiences, artists and theatre professionals of tomorrow. A wide range of creative professionals create highly engaging theatre productions which reflect and promote the diversity of the local area. The casts include a unique mix of professional actors, and young people from the workshops, and young apprentice actors aged 16+. The high quality of our productions attracts large, excited audiences, challenging perceptions of Peckham and its young people’s talents for creative participation. This highly individual model provides a fun and structured means to progress from participation to professional performance. Watch our website for news of the latest shows.
Our home is our brand new 200 seat Theatre on Havil Street which is also available for hire as part of Theatre Peckham’s programme. By showcasing new talent and raising the awareness of different forms of theatre, Theatre Peckham aims to develop an exciting and diverse new programme, encouraging new audiences to place theatre at the heart of their community.
Our Education Work
The Theatre school and workshop programme has an excellent reputation which is reflected in the high number of distinctions received by students studying towards Trinity Guildhall qualifications. Our Education and Community Engagement managers also develop relationships with schools and community groups to create tailored educational projects that include themed workshops and after-school drama clubs. Examples of previous projects include: speaking and listening workshops, projects on myths and legends, taster workshops in Musical Theatre, Tap, Ballet and Acting. Theatre Peckham is presently developing a new range of workshops for schools and community groups. If you’d like to find out more about what we can offer contact the office: 020 7708 5401.
