Champions for Children 2023
Widening Access
Situation:
Theatre Peckham is in Southwark where 25,700 children are growing up in poverty. The social & financial barriers that many local young people face to accessing the arts are getting ever higher with those from marginalised backgrounds not provided the same opportunities as their peers to participate in the arts.
Solution:
We are working with The Childhood Trust to raise £12,000 to support our Academy programme and widen access to the arts for local young people. At Theatre Peckham, we understand barriers to participation and develop effective means of addressing them. We will provide over 500 young people with supportive, positive & financially accessible opportunities to improve their wellbeing, engage with their peers, develop their creative self-expression & see their lived experiences creatively reflected.
- £10 can provide a free ticket for every Academy member to see a show on our stage
- £30 can support one young person to access training for a term with our fee support scheme
- £50 can provide a term of training with the opportunity to perform on our stage
From 6th-20th June we will be raising £6000 in donations which will be match funded to raise a total of £12,000.
ONE donation, TWICE the impact
Help us in widening access to the arts to create equal opportunity for all.
