Communities Working with Theatre Peckham
Theatre Peckham works with an extensive range of creative professionals throughout our local and national community in order for inspirational artists to meet aspirational young people, bringing them together to create meaningful, world-class projects. We invite all to join in with our programme of work that extends beyond our building; we welcome applications from local schools, youth groups and other groups in the community. Our practitioners use performing arts as a vehicle to unlock ideas, feed creativity and evoke social change.
Forthcoming activity for summer 2022
Funded by The Mayor’s Young Londoners Fund, Positive Futures is a Theatre Peckham project created to inspire, guide, and encourage young people in Southwark who have experienced alternative education. The project currently supports: Arco Academy, Southwark Youth Justice Service, and Roadworks Media in improving the confidence, mental well-being, resilience, and communication and language skills of young people.
Funded by The Mayor’s Young Londoners Fund, Positive Transitions is a Theatre Peckham project designed to empower, uplift and nurture year 6 pupils as they navigate their transition into Secondary school. Currently working with four primary schools in Southwark, participants are supported through a series of creative workshops involving discussion, art-making and movement, and peer mentoring sessions aimed to encourage communication, wellbeing, social skills and self-esteem.
