Cultural Leaders (18-29YRS)

What is Cultural Leaders?

Through our Cultural Leaders Youth Employment Scheme, young people aged 18 to 29 gain valuable employment opportunities and engage in a development pathway towards becoming future cultural leaders.

Launched in August 2021, Cultural Leaders is the initiative from The Poetic Relief Project a partnership between Poetic Unity, Black Cultural Archives and Theatre Peckham. Together we provide programmes and services to support young people’s well-being, personal development, and community cohesion. This youth employment scheme is supported by The National Lottery Community Fund and brings new opportunities for young people to find employment in the creative industries.

Over 3 years, 36 Cultural Leaders have been employed, developing skills as facilitators, producers, directors and all round creatives. They design and deliver opportunities for their peers to engage, share and lead as spoken word artists in the industry.
