Final Drafts
Final Drafts, our latest writing competition for 14-21 year olds has come to a close and we are pleased to announce the winners. Our winning creatives were: Alfie Neill, Jade Wallace-Mitchell, Jamilla Dauda, Jordan Aitcheson, Nadé Stoycheva, Olivia Vaaran.
Each creative was mentored by Theatre Peckham’s artist-in-residence Olivia Douglass or Poetic Unity’s founder and supporter of Theatre Peckham, Ragz-cv.
The competition asked those aged 14-21 to respond to an extract from Self Portrait with Yellow Dress by award winning poet, Safia Elhillo.
Tomorrow might be different but tomorrow
does not yet exist so I… laugh and light pours in
We had fantastic combination of spoken word, poetry, song lyrics and prose submitted and the team had a difficult decision choosing the winners. Read the winning pieces today.
Jamilla, Nadé and Alfie took the challenge to the next level and you can see the performances of their work below.
If you are keen to get involved we will be launching a second round of Final Drafts soon. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media to find out how to get involved.
