Award Winning CTC Dance Company is renowned for its versatility and uniqueness – sparking important conversations through narrative movement. 

Suzann McLean Artistic Director/CEO said

“At Theatre Peckham we support underrepresented creatives to develop their practice. We believe that art forms are enriched by creatives who have new perspectives, tell untold stories, and push the boundaries of form. This partnership with CTC dance aligns with our mission and I am excited to see how together we can influence change within the dance sector.”

CTC was created in 2017 by Artist Director, Christopher Tendai. Christopher is an up and coming choreographer, ready to pave the way as a creative of colour within the industry. He has many years of experience working on the Westend, dancing for artists and teaching at colleges around the UK.

A few words from Chris

“Within my body of work, I like to lead with ‘intention’ first and then allow the movement to follow. In my opinion I feel that ‘narrative’ is the fundamental aspect of creating powerful movement. I like to integrate different dance styles such as: Contemporary, Jazz, Afro Beats and Physical Theatre. I always like to ask myself the question ‘Why’ and allow the relevance of movement to blend with the use of dynamics which, I believe, heightens the work.”

The company’s aim, is to use intention of movement to allow their audiences to be taken on a journey of emotion. CTC work closely with the topics of Mental Health, Gender awareness and Diversity. Their aim is to not only entertain, but also educate audiences about these sensitive topics, demonstrating that they are positive and allow us to know that there is strength in being our authentic selves.

“We are so thrilled to have our Home at Theatre Peckham. The values and goals that Theatre Peckham have are similar to our own. Wanting to give back to the next generation, creating accessible work for all to enjoy, and to keep celebrating diversity & inclusion in both cast and creative teams. We are looking forward to our first endeavour of premiering our new work at the very first dance season at Theatre Peckham in 2023.”
