In the village where Jack lives there have been a series of break-ins. Even aspiring young detective Lucy is finding it hard to follow the clues. All is lost for Jack and his mum until a mystical rapper Spot the Poet sets the adventure in motion with a bag of magical beans.
AUDITION DATE: Sunday 8th September
REHEARSAL DATES: Every Saturday and Sunday from 28th September and everyday during October half term (21st-25th)
Performance dates: 2nd – 22nd December 2019 (including morning schools, matinee and evening performances. All young actor parts will be doubled so no one actor will perform in all of the shows).
To be consider for this production you must
- be a current or new member of Theatre Peckham Academy.
- be available for all the rehearsal dates.
- be willing to apply for a performance licence.
- be available for performances across the run.

ROLES TO BE CAST
For all parts, experience in musical theatre performance craft desirable. Strong vocals. Dance ability. Good energy and a general love for the stage.
JACK TROTT – boy or girl, aged 12-16. Must be able to act, sing and dance to a very high standard. Jack is the lead role. He is fun, quirky and adventurous.
LUCY – girl, aged 12-16. Must be able to act, sing and dance to a very high standard. Lucy is a main role. She is bright, independent and a loyal friend to Jack.
SHOT THE POET – boy or girl, aged 9-16. The mystical character who looks out for Jack. Must have excellent Spoken Word ability.
BOZ – boy, aged 12-16. Part of a baddie double act. Must be able to act and sing with good comic timing and ability.
HENRIETTA – girl, aged 9-16 (or adult). The Hen that lays the Golden egg; Must have Excellent Tap Dancing ability. Quality vocals. Comic understanding and timing.
WARNER – boy or girl, aged 9-16. Part of a fun double act. Must have strong acting skills with good comic timing.
PROPP – girl or boy, aged 9-16. Part of a fun double act. Must have strong acting skills with good comic timing.
MARILYN – boy or girl, aged 9-16. The Trott family Cow. Non-speaking role. Must be able to dance and be very physically expressive.
UGGLUCK – boy or girl, aged 9-16. The ogre. Must be very expressive. Strong acting skills.
SPIDER-ORGAN – boy or girl, aged 9-16. The scary creature that tries to capture Jack. Non-speaking role. Must be able to dance and be very physically expressive.
SUPPORTING ARTISTS – boy or girl, aged 9-16. Playing a number of roles; bailiffs, village kids, rude boys, detectives, night bats, Ogre creatures and tapping hens. Must be strong performers with the discipline to handle lots of costume changes. Strong singers and dancers. Tap dance ability is an advantage.
