About the show

Bored at home and need some inspiration? If you’re aged 14-21 and want a challenge to keep creative, we’re now accepting submissions for the next iteration of Final Drafts. 

We have selected the stimulus and the rest is up to you!  

Our chosen stimulus has been provided by our two guest writers Amina Jama and Jeremiah Brown.

You can write your response in prose, as a script, song lyrics, poetry or a piece of spoken word.  

6 selected writers will receive mentorship from Theatre Peckham’s creative professionals who will provide bespoke feedback on your work over 3 weeks, with your Final Draft published on our website. You’ll also have a chance to receive peer-to-peer feedback and enter a new community of emerging artists. 

Our 4 simple rules:  

  • You must be between 14 and 21 years old to participate 
  • Your submission must be an original work 
  • Spoken word, Poetry and song lyrics can be maximum of 4 A4 sides. Prose and Scripts can be a maximum of 6 A4 Sides. 
  • You must write in response to or draw inspiration from the stimulus

Results from Final Drafts: Round One 

During lockdown our incredible young people have been taking part in a new writing competition- Final Drafts. We had an incredible number of submissions and six chosen winners have been working with writer, creator, producer Olivia Douglass and award winning poet Ragz-CV to publish their Final Drafts on our website.

The competition asked those aged 14-21 to respond to an extract from Self Portrait with Yellow Dress by award winning poet, Safia Elhillo.

Tomorrow might be different but tomorrow

We had fantastic combination of spoken word, poetry, song lyrics and prose submitted and the team had a difficult decision choosing the winners.
