Spanish Theatre Festival FesTeLõn 2026 presents Leonora.
Leonora is a poetic journey into the world of surrealist artist Leonora Carrington, focusing on her youth and years in Spain after the Civil War. Rather than a conventional biography, it evokes fragments of her luminous spirit, resistance, and longing for freedom. Inspired by her diary Memories from Below, the piece explores her artistic awakening, psychiatric violence, and imagination’s power to transcend time.
Carrington’s life and creations continue to captivate, revealing the light and shadow of an era. “If this stage were not a stage, it would be a canvas.”
The play “LEONORA” features an award-winning actress and playwright. NATALIA HUARTE: Max Award for Best Actress Actors and Actresses Union Award (2026) Ercilla Theatre Award (2019) ALBERTO CONEJERO: National Dramatic Literature Award (2019) Max Award for Playwriting (2016) Ceres Award for Best Playwright (2015)
