Young Ambassadors (17-25YRS)
What is Young Ambassadors?
The Young Ambassadors are a group of young people who are interested in arts leadership. They have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of Theatre Peckham and curate youth-focused workshops and events.
At Theatre Peckham we believe in providing platforms for leadership, ensuring that young voices are heard and their contributions are valued.
Young Ambassadors…
- Watch our productions, give feedback and write reviews
- Gain insight into how we develop and market projects
- Lead strategic meetings surrounding our programmes
- Share ideas with our staff and Trustees
- Attend workshops to learn from successful Arts Leaders
- Curate their own events and panels discussions
- Observe and present at a Board meeting and the Annual General Meeting
- Network with peers in the performing arts and charity arts sector
Young Ambassador is an inspiring journey where love for theatre meets arts leadership, influence, and the power to make a lasting impact.
What is the Young Ambassadors group like?
“I’ve never been a host before, I am a host now, I never worked with the youth before which is something I wanted to do, and this gave me the opportunity to do it too. It has just been an amazing opportunity.”
In 2023 Young Ambassadors was all about ‘Making Things Happen’. The group organised 2 events for their community:
- Theatre Works Panel and networking event creating a safe space for young people to meet with professional actors, creatives and producers and practice their networking skills.
- Windrush Inspired Community Day in partnership with our local Sceaux Gardens estate. Through play and crafts, they engaged families and young people from the hyper local community.
What’s next for the Young Ambassadors?
The group are the leading our Heritage Project: looking at the Journey of Theatre Peckham over the past 38 years. By uncovering the past of Theatre Peckham they will help to shape a brighter future for all those who follow in their footsteps.
When do sessions take place?
Monthly meetings take place on the second Tuesday of every month.
How can I join?
Am I eligible?
You do not need to have previously engaged in Theatre Peckham’s programmes to apply. You simply need to be innovative, committed and passionate.
We are particularly interested in hearing from:
- Residents of London Borough of Southwark
- Young people from the Global Majority
- Young people with an interest in leadership roles within the arts
You must be available to attend monthly meetings taking place on the second Tuesday of the month. *Expenses can be applied for travel if this is a barrier to participation.
